Zakes Mda is one of Africa's most celebrated contemporary writers. He has received numerous awards, including the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, the Sunday Times Award for Fiction, and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) award. He is the author of five novels, his most recent being The Good Doctor. His first novel, The Memory of Love, was published in 2007 and won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best First Book
